Hi,
I am a newbie with the DSLR (Rebel XT). I have been playing with it for the last couple days. Here's a shot from my son soccer game today, nothing special.

I am also a Newb, bit more "experienced" IMO than you, but non the less. Might I ask what your settings were? I find that around 1/1000 F5.6 is about right for overcast days like we have in England. Just did a crude check( stuck my camera out the window) and came up with about 1/2000 at 5.6 for a sunny day on ISO 1600. Do these settings closely resemble yours?

It was a cloudy day. My setting are f5.6, shutter 500, ISO 200, kit lens at 52mm, AF in AI servo mode. I meterred on the grass at the middle of the field, and set it down one stop (since the object would be closer).
