I know I'm not alone in this, so I thought I'd start an officially unofficial thread where other photographers share their medication combo that does a good job overcoming their allergies without unwelcomed side effects.

I was on Zyrtec until recently (I umm... sort of OD'd...) and it was really putting me into a funk to the point where I coudln't even remember having taken a series of (awesome) wedding photos. It was pretty bad, but I was lucky with the outcome. That pushed me to get my allergies checked out for real, and I've been put on a mix of Flonase and Allegra D which seem to be doing their job pretty well so far.

Anyone else care to chime in and tell what works for them? Holistic treatments are more than welcome (I HATE popping chems - 'gentle' side effects tend to come back to bite ya...).

I usually start about two weeks before pollen season with a inhaled nasal corticosteroids. With me having M's, I sometimes watch how I treat my allergies. Good luck to you, and I hope all works out.

Allegra is pretty great. Though. Must admit, my allergies are not as bad as what others experience.

I used to get very bad allergies, spring and autumn were the worst times of the year.. Sneezing, sniffling, puffy eyes.

I'm not one for pharmaceutical drugs, but I used to take large doses of garlic and horseradish tablets. I very rarely get allergies now.

Oh, really now? I honestly haven't heard of that method... I'll look into it.

Ok, first off, I'm very sceptic about home made concoctions. However, my younger brother has severe allergic asthma, and he did a treatment based on cider vinegar. It worked for him. It was a mix of vinegar and water and he drank 5 liters of that crap per day. It tasted awfull. He stopped taking his meds for almost 6 months before he started having symptoms again, and before the treatment he had attacks even while on meds. His inhaler used to be a permanent companion. Now he is doing quite well, with no asthma attacks for years now... A quick search on google will give you several apple cider vinegar treatments on the web. Maybe it will work for you too, who knows...
