I have an S50. I believe these are very similar cameras. My S50 does not have a filter ring so, being a IR film nut anyway, here is my plan for digital IR shots using my new toy.

Mount it on a tripod and hold the IR filter in front of the lens (you have to have an IR filter to get the effect). I have not tested this method as of yet. I have been reading about this (briefly) online and it should work though the images require color correcting. They generally have a magenta/orange cast or green. I plan to fix mine up in Photoshop.

No some people have also mentioned the use of a polarizer as well as the IR filter. I will probaly try that too, screwing the two filters together and putting the polarizer closest to the lens.

Good luck.

Testing your digital camera for Infrared sensitivity, just point it at the front (IR diode) of your remote control.

Looking at the LCD you should clearly see the flashing diode, now all you need to do is to fit it with an IR filter.

Have fun and good luck.
