Maybe this is a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway. What is the difference between a Junior Member and a Member. Does it have to do with how long you have been a member, or how many posts? Or maybe Members have given a donation? I can't find anything on here about that.

Scottes
10th of October 2005 (Mon), 17:28
It's just the number of posts. Junior Member is below 500, Member is 500-999, Senior Member is 1000 - 1999, Gold Member is 2000-5000, Cream Of The Crop is above 5000.

I think that also depends on length of time as a member, cas as you can see I only have 129 posts yet have moved from Junior Member to Member

Hmm, it's definitely Post Count... OK, looks like Junior Member is less than 30 posts, Member is 30-500. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/memberlist.php?do=getall&page=103&pp=30&order=desc&sort=posts

I asked this question ( member progression designation ) back in May and this was Belmondos reply:

It looks like Junior Member is less than 30
30-999 Member
1000-1999 Senior Member
2000 4999 Gold Member
5000-plus Cream of the Crop
12,000-plus Manic Member (so far, we only have one of those)

Cadwell

Junior Member 0-29 posts
Member 30-999 posts
Senior Member 1000-1999 posts
Gold Member 2000-4999 posts
Cream of the Crop 5000+

(he was winding you up about "Manic Members" although it's a good idea!- but there are in fact now two with 12,000 plus. Marie and CDS).

For a very long time I was #3 on the list behind Jake (CyberDyneSystems) and Marie. Now I'm # and fading fast. Permie should pass me within a month or so. Eventually I'll be off the first page, and then, just a historical footnote.

That's the way things work around here.

Turns out I'm #12 for posts. It's quickly changing, though. People that used to be far behind me are ahead of me now. It's those warp speed chat threads. I don't take part, so I'm falling behind. :-)

Oh, and Bugster, moderators, as far as I know, can't change titles. Only admins. So unless one or more moderators have been given admin access, they didn't do it.

Thanks for clarifying that Ronald. I was sincerely concerned about your rapidly falling status. But fear not my fiend, soon the BSOTN posse(s) will split off, accelerating away from the planet earth at chat-speed five to form its own universe and taking at least 50% of the Mods with it. That will leave POTN to continue lighter, faster, smarter and your rightful place will be restored ;-) You could become the new Belrondo, right hand to Cyber and with bannin' rights to rival Tommy?

I'm not sure, Dave, but I really think there's an insult buried somewhere in that all that. If you really think I need to be replaced, a slightly more direct statement might have more impact.:p

Well on the forum I moderate, I was told that I had been given admin rights, and I've noticed a few. However, when I enter the mod CP, I can find a user, edit the title, but I can't save it. Care to say how that's done? I can't find it in the vbulletin documentation. There should supposedly be a "save prefs" button or the like, but I don't see it.

If you look back over my posting history, you'll notice that whenever I refer to the title Fairy (Faerie) in the third person, I always refer to him/her as 'him/her.' He/she deserves to have his/her identity kept confidential.

You may now return to your regularly scheduled speculation.

On smaller forums, that idea works out okay, but in one this size, things move way too fast. I agree, the immersion method works best. Just pick a conversation that looks interesting, and dive in.
