As my 10D is clearly front focusing, I tried, today, to test other cameras and do a comparo.
I'll not post the pics anywhere (unless someone REALLY wants to see them), but here is what I've tested and found.
-- Tested 4 EOS 1D and 2 EOS 10D (my camera and one brand new)
-- Did the test on the local newspaper studio. I used to work there and the guys are friendly. They use only EOS 1D and EOS 1Ds cameras with L lenses.
-- All EOS 1D belong to the newspaper
-- We used one Canon 70-200 2.8 (newpaper's) and one Sigma 70-200 2.8 (my lens)
-- We mounted all lenses in all bodies. We did all combinations
We used ONLY f/2.8 in 70 and 200mm. Used the procedure suggested by Pekka.
The results were BAD.
ALL COMBINATIONS front focused.
The newspaper pros, after seeing what I was doing, asked me to do it themselves. "It can be YOUR mistake", they said.
Well, I'm an amateur. I really might be making mistakes here, I tought.
2 professionals took over and the results were.... THE SAME.
We were ALL left in disbelief as all cameras had bad results. One EOS 1D had a very slightly front focus. But all the other 5 bodies showed a real bad front focus, WITH BOTH LENSES.
The guy in charge phoned Canon at once, asking their account manager to stop by and see the problem himself. They have 41 EOS 1D and 1Ds and when I left they were planning how to test ALL cameras for focus problems.
Amazing, huh?
