Working for the Vindicator???????

Hi,
The Vindictor newspaper company is a couple miles away where I live, I would like to shoot for them at concerts, for free ( I know).. I would use my own equipment, I want my foot in the door, I work for a professional photographer, would this help? What are the processes I go through?

call and ask for the chief photographer, photo editor, editor-in-cheif or production director. tell them you would like to meet with them about potentially freelancing. my only suggestion would be to NOT do it for free. you don't what them to take advantage of you from the get go. good luck.
