Does anyone know if there would be some way to offload pictures from a 1D to an iPod without going through a computer?

They're both firewire and it would be nice to have access to the iPod's 30GB without hauling around a computer.

you and me both would love this option! I have been looking around for just that information. Short of hand coding an application from scratch I haven't found a way to do it. I love my iPod and it would be a perfect digital image storage device. Maybe if enough iPod owners wrote to apple they'd try and make something for us.

As it is I use my iPod at least 50% for carrying files to an from work and to clients and whatnot. They are SO cool.

I am totally unfamiliar with the 1D firewire implementation. But in theory,. unlike USB, Firewire is SUPPOSED to be completely peer to peer capable. (As in no PC is needed) I know with Firewire DV Camcorders one can transfer via firewire directly to a firewire hard drive. No pc needed.

The trick would be in the control of such a transfer. Either the 1D has a transfer option built into its menu,. or not?

I have a 20GB IPOD, and this would be a great application. I however and buying a 10D, and doesn't support firewire (I don't think)...

I just dump my smartmedia cards using a 6and1 reader, don't use the camera to transfer the files, this ties up your camera...
