Hi again all 10D focus issue fans all around the world :)

Today the repair tech called and said that the new body arrived, he tested it and it was perfect in focus. The old bodys focusing has a problem which they have not been able to diagnose yet so they exhanged me that new 10D and will look for that old one later - I can forget it for good :) The body thickness issue found by the tech was in the end a mistake in 10D service manual, now fixed there.

The new 10D is 04xx series (old one was 02xx). I shot with it today a couple of hours and all I can say it seems to be just right (note that I have not tested for hot pixels, dust, focus shifts, rattling noises, reseting effects or long exposure starfield noise yet :) )

Some shots from walkabout today (EXIF should be there if you save them):

Nice walkabout pictures. Good luck with your replacement 10D. I have the 2xx series and so far it seems to focus correctly - fingers remain crossed.

I received my 042xx series 10D Tuesday and have found the AF to be excellent with no issues.

This was one of the very first shots I took. JPEG only. No post process/sharpening or anything else. Yeah the composition sucks but that's not what I was going for. ;)

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. I have been
testing and arguing like a DonQuichotte
against the windmills that my 10D was
not as far a sharp as my good old D60
but everybody said there is nothing wrong
with it. The serial of mine is 0230205519.

Now I see this pictures, they look great,
this is what I would expect from MY
10D which is currently at the Canon Repair
Center.

Again: great picts !!

Hi Pekka!

Glad to hear you got a good one! I know how frustrating it is to get a new "toy" that's broken when you get it! I bought a computerized telescope last year that arrived 'brain dead'!

Great forum, too!
