Hello, Ive only gotten to a few of my shots that I took in Myrtle Beach. I thought I'd share what I have done already.

I wont be able to get to the rest until I get my new computer...this old laptop isdriving me insane!! Every action I try to complete in PS results in a "scratch disks are full" message...talk about frustrating!

Anyway, here are a few shots!

Me, my wife and 11 month old daughter. My brother-in-law took this.http://rybphotography.smugmug.com/Other/Myrtle-Beach-May-2011/i-LLgcSWj/0/XL/IMG0595-XL.jpg

Thanks!
I had one of my family members hold my flash at a 45 deg angle in front of the shot. I did the exact same poses for my sister-in-law's family so the camera would be set before my brother-in-law took our family's shot.

These are fantastic. I assume thirds were taken with the 85 1.8?

Thank you! Yep...its definitely my favorite lens for these kind of shots. I'm looking to upgrade to a 5dmk2 and either a 24L or a 35L. I'm in love with primes...

This is a very nice series! You have a beautiful family, and all your smiles are wonderful, seriously! These made me smile! The only thing I might suggest is to bring up the exposure a bit. I tried it on the second photo and it seemed to "brighten" things up. Regardless, beautiful series!

I want the 5d2 because the low light performance is so amazing! If you push the ISO on the XSi, things start to get unusable...

Thank you very much. My family loves them all. Some are hanging up on my in-laws walls.

I'm still new to post work. I'm trying to teach myself with youtube and random books. On these shots I used a curves adjustment layer, brighten the eyes a little skin softening.

I've got a bunch more done now. I will post a few more soon.

i hear you with the low light, i moved to the 60d and the ISO is insanely better than my XS was.

the eyes have amazing pop and the skins are so smooth while maintaining sharpness. you did a great job with post.

looking forward to the next set

i have the same flash as you and i still have problems with it, since it isn't eTTL its all trial and error with the exposure, i usually set it to the lowest output just to fill some shadows but i still find it to create to hard of light, do you diffuse it at all?

Wow, fantastic shots, I especially like the one where she's peeking out from behind the support, very cute! ^^

These are the proof that you don't need expensive glass or equipment to acheive superlative results, just talent and aptitude.

It seems almost impossible that the years fly by as quickly as they do, but we are now the grandparents, so I LOVED your "grandparent" photos, and the copy you added with them. Our grandson turned 3 at the end of June and there is nothing more rewarding than taking him to the beach with us. Thanks for sharing these beautiful shots!

Thank you! She is growing up too fast. It really is amazing how fast time goes by...
