View Full Version : Tamron 200-500 vs. Sigma 150-500

I'm certain this is not a new issue. I am researching these two lenses - I accept that the Canon 100-400 is probably superior to both but the cost and infrequency of use prohibits that choice. The Sigma is newer and has OS and HSM but I've read of those satisfied with the Tammy as well. I've seen samples of each that look good - I'd appreciate any input - especially from those familiar with both.

Many thanks.

You should move this thread to the lens forum as this is the archive forum. I can't really give you advice as I have never tried the Tamron 200-500, but I can tell you do not underestimate the importance of image stabalization on a lens this long. The image stabilization even helps immensely when using a monopod. This is why I went with the Sigma because the OS is really top notch.

In actual use at a variety of events, no complaints about the performance or problems with the Sigma lens, and no feeling of jealousy that another lens isn't in use.

WOW !

I am most impressed - and action shots to boot! Beautiful. These will put to rest some of my concerns. Thank you for taking the time to post.
