Sellling Photos for a Book

I found a craigs list ad offering $50+credits for photographs. Being a new photographer it would be great to have published photos in a book. It seems far low on the scale as for pay but should I go ahead and get a few photos published just for that recognition? I have 15 or so photos I was going to submit. As long as I retain the copyrights to the images I should be able to sell them to someone else also, right?

As long as I retain the copyrights to the images I should be able to sell them to someone else also, right? Yes. As you said, the price is low, but if you can get, say $500 for one days work, it's not terrible, either. Everyone has to start somewhere! :D
