Hi , At the moment I only have a 200mm lens on my 350d . I would like to have a longer lens , but I cannot afford it . So would a 2x convertor be any good . I know nothing about them and any help would be great as I am stuck on what to do.thanks

The Teleconverter FAQ at the top of this forum should be able to answer most, if not all, of your questions. http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41922

If you still have specific question people will be glad to help.

One question that I have is: What lens specifically do you have? There are many 200mm lenses and this will make a difference to final image quality and other things like autofocus capabilities.

I recently bought a 300 f4L and a 1.4 converter. I thought about the 2X but loosing 2 stops is a bunch when you are hand holding in less than bright sunlight. The 1.4 only looses a stop and it's not that bad. I have taken a lot of pictures with the 1.4 and it seems to reach out and I can still shot at 100 iso and get some great shots no blur. At 400 iso I do seem to get a little more grain with the 1.4 than without. Just a thought.
