as usual, I'm not entirely sure of my answer, but if you use Zoombrowser, you should be able to resize using the "export" setting. You can also change the format and save the photo this way.

It may sound difficult and/or confusing, but it isn't. You need to tell us what software program you are using to reduce the size of your image.
When you tell us that, someone will surely be familiar with that program and will be able to help you.

Using the software that came with the S2IS, to download initially . Camera set at L size with fine compression
I also have Photoshop elements - so far all I have done for image size is crop and expand actual image size- don't think I have done anything special to decrease overall mgs -
that is where I need advice

OK -- there are several versions of Elements. The info I have is from Elements 3, but it should work for other versions also.
1) I assume you wish to upload a jpeg file.
2) Requirements for this forum are a maximum file size of 100K and maximum dimensions of 800 x 800 pixels. My bet is you will want to make that lower - start with the longest dimension at 500.
3) There are other ways to do this, but lets start with this one -- FILE > SAVE FOR WEB -- a dialog box appears. Don't worry about the options concerning how long it takes to upload, you are stuck with the connection you have and the size file is dictated by the forum limits, not the time it takes to upload.
4) Resize your image to conform to the limits. If you check CONSTRAIN PROPORTIONS, you have only to enter the size on one dimension, the other one will adjust automatically.
5) When you are asked for the QUALITY settings, try 6 as a starter. You may need to go lower or you may be able to go higher depending on the image. The higher the quality, the better the quality BUT the larger the file.
6) When you try to upload your file -- ATTACH FILES > MANAGE ATTACHMENTS, you will use browse to find your file, and when you check OK, the file will be uploaded or you will be notified "it is too big." If that happens, use a lower QUALITY setting or make the longest dimension of the image smaller.
This got pretty wordy, but it should work.

I think the best way is to find a photo host site such as fotopic.net or photobucket.com and upload your shots to those then link back to here. It will generally resize for you and if people want they can also see th efull size. The beauty of this is it is not using up as much bandwidth which Pekka has to pay for :)
