I have a T1i and I have been using it with a 18-55 and 55-250 for more than a year now. I'm a grad student and I can't afford to spend a lot of money on lenses. However, I'm not happy with the 18-55. I'm not sure if I have a bad copy or if this is just how they are. It is not a sharp lens by any means. At a focal length of 55 mm my 55-250 is way sharper than the 18-55.
Anyway, I want to replace it with a sharper lens. I've been looking around and there are a lot of options. I would prefer to keep it under $600.
I'm guessing that I will have to get a non-Canon lens and I am not really familiar with them. I was looking at the Sigma 17-70 and it seems like a good choice but I really don't know anything about it.
Any ideas?
