Not sure about this shot:
- make it more blurred (or is it out of focus) and leave the colors
- sharpen (a lot) and boost the colors

Well this shot is of course more complicated:

On the plus side
--you are playing with complementary colors.
-- the DOF of the stems et al works well

On the minus side:
- A bit busy, and the added tulips do not really add to the story
-- The yellow (on bottom frame) intrudes (stamp out?)
-- The red (on top left frame) is OK and for me at least takes my mind of the yellows
-- Overall, I guess that the yellows a a bit overwhelming
-- perhaps the blue is to light.. might try to _ saturate and darhen.

Well done. Tulips are a beautiful flower.

Was the camera shaking or were the flowers being rocked by a breeze? A tripod might help, but the flowers need to be still too.

I'm not sure if sharpening will help here, but you might be able to go the other way and diffuse the heck out of it like Henk said, going for the Hallmark look.

Crop it (as Howie said it's a bit busy) and vignette the edges too. It has potential.

One trick that some people use to isolate a flower in the field is to place a solid-colored poster board (black is common) behind the flower; the background becomes the black and everything else is removed. I'm not saying you need to do that, it's just something to keep in mind. Personally I prefer the real background as you have here.

You know, I think that this shot might look even better with less sunlight. If you look closely, it seems that the light you are getting is quite direct and sharp. It's not overly sharp, but it is sharp enough that it's drowning out the details on your flower. It may be interesting to see what this looks like slightly later in the day, when the light is more angled. You might be able to get alot more detail out of the flower.
