Manfrotto 494RC2 vs 496RC2 Ball Head

I am debating which ball head to go on the manfrotto 679b monopod? The heaviest lens in my line up will be my 24-70mm f/2.8 L, ,my body will be a 60D.

You'd be much better off with the 496RC2 on a monopod. It's sturdier than the 494 and simply better suited to your equipment. I use the forerunner - the 486RC2 on my 680B monopod while I usually use the 488RC2 on my most-used field tripod.
