my day started this morning with the womens field hockey i posted earlier and continued right through the afternoon culminating in a downpour. i was instantly soaked and looked like i just jumped in a pool. at that point i decided to just head home and skipped on the indoor track & field. on a side note, the 20D and 300 f/4 do well when dumped in a bucket of water and show no signs of being soaked.
#1 - back to campus after processing and posting the field hockey photos i started my afternoon with some womens rugby action. the girls finished the regular season un-defeated with an 88-0 win over mcmaster.

#2 - wow did this young lady get laid out on this play. much to her credit she bounced right back up but that must have hurt something fierce...

#3 - i only shot one half of this match but i have gotten pretty good at getting quality stuff from rugby. it really is the only sport i shot today that i was familiar with so i got a lot more quality frames from this game then i did the rest.

#4 - i have never shot lacrosse before and wasn't sure what to expect...boy was it not exciting. maybe they were just bad teams but a lot of hearding and chasing the ball on the ground occured. needless to say, the photos that resulted aren't that exciting and it was a challange to get anyone isolated.

#5 - this is about the extent of the contact that i could see so i won't be showing any more from lacrosse today ;)

#6 - time for my first ever go at soccer up the hill. i think i did alright and was limited to a couple positions on one side of the field as the backgrounds were pretty nasty. the ladies were up first and i made it just in time for the start of the second half.

#7 - with the available shooting angles i was very limited by the reach of the 300 so this shot is cropped a good chunk and unfortunately it shows...

#8 - i only got the first half through the lens before the skies opened up and the action was scarce with no real scoring chances and gusty winds that sent most all long range kicks awry leading to very little action in the air. i certainly didn't get any corners either so its all on the ground battleing here...

#9 - and the last shot of the day showing just how tight of a game it was with barely any room to make any runs or create any kind of offensive pressure...

it was one heck of a day and the time just flew by from 8am when i got on my bike and started off for campus to when i finally arrived home at 5:30pm with a growling stomach. i learned a lot today with the sun jumping in and out of the sun all afternoon and i managed to tough it out and shoot manual all day thanx to the tips and advice from the resident guru gavin.
