I have an Ixus 50, and while its a great take-anywhere camera, the macro mode isn't great. With this picture, this is as cropped as I can make it before it loses too much quality, as the camera was around 10cm from the insect.
What do you think of it?

Also, one of a flower:

Thanks, all critique welcome.

I like the flower but not the fly pic. The fly one is a good concept but I think it gets lost in the picture. At first I didn't see it. The flower is nice the way you pushed it to side of the fame good dead space. just my two cents

Thanks for the comments. I agree though, the bug doesn't stand out enough compared to the background. I would have liked to have been closer and slightly underneath, so he stood out against the leaf more.

This poor guy seemed to have a leg missing, which probably explained why he didn't really move!

Much better composition looks like he is going somewhere. I don't know if it me but the pic sees really grainy mabey it's the resize or if your shooting film the scanner. I like it though.

Thanks again for the comments wingd.
I agree, the composition is better in that shot, but unfortuneately, yes it is grainy, as to make it look presentable, I had to use a high ISO setting on my IXUS, which means noise. I also increased the saturation in PS, so this probably added grain.
