Have posted 2 from recent holiday in HK
tried to get out quick as I heard fireworks where starting
dashed to room retreved camera only to have it fog up
as room temp around 20oC and had just finished raining outside
so i fired away

In both images you could avoid converging verticals by getting the camera pointing directly at the horizon. Otherwise you can modify in PSCS by using Perspective Correction.
The images do look a little soft or blurry, and it could be due to fogging of the lens, as you suggest.
I think you exposures were right on, but the composition is a bit too centric. I think I would prefer some other approach to street scenes rather than this compulsion we have for looking straight down the street as if it were a demonstration of the vanishing point.

I think my aim was to incorporate the fireworks going off atop of the buildings

Nice one.. if you have any other HK pics i'd love to see em. I used to live there and I love to see what the place looks like these days.
