I was out this Sunday playing with my 10D and 100-400 lens. I have not been able to get any models to shoot this past month and had to shoot something, so I spend the afternoon shooting birds and the occaisional flower.
I have come to the conclusion that doves and pigeons are way to easy, Seagulls are a pain and all of the other ones fall in between.
The Seagulls were a pain because they kept moving to where I wasn't. And then when they did fly near me it was typically straight over head at close range, making it real difficult to get them with my 100-400.
On the other hand it was fun trying.
I did learn what happens when the battery finally goes while shooting. The camera will not autofocus. I learned that by turning off the IS I could finish off the CF card in the camera, which tells me the IS on the 100-400 really sucks up power. I also relearned that I really need to charge my picture pad before I use it, but since the camera went just before the last CF card was full, it worked out anyway.
I also got to play with my new car-plug in device (Sima SPV-1) that allows me to plug it in to the cig lighter and then plug up to two regular outlet plugs into the device. The catch is I apparently can't run both the camera battery charger and the Delkin picture pad at the same time off my car cig lighter (the overload light came on the device) (not to mention, they really don't fit, which may have actually caused the problem). On the other hand, It allowed me to plug them in one at a time and worked great. Nice solution , never again need a special car adapter.

The only issue I really have with it is the plugs are slightly too close together (must remember extention cord next time).
Stange note: all pictures I could find of the device, except on the simacorp site showed the single plug version (which is not what I have).
Anyway, I had a nice weekend taking pictures, now I just have to look at them in photoshop, which requires time I probably won't get this week. But at least I got to take the pictures.
