i have bad habit - i often forget to take off the lens cap when turning on my G6, the lens retracts without a warning signal which as I read in manual should be played.. In manual there was said that lens wouldn't retract if cap is left on.

what to do ?

PS2. sorry for language, if it's bad :).. not my native

Well, The only time you will here a lens warning will be if you like left it laying on the lens and tried to turn it on, the lens cap alone is not tight enough to make it stall hard enough for the warning sound to come on, I know when I do that which is alot it just pops the cap off for me, and you said yours was loose? They are not the best designed lens cap on the market, they can be knocked off by the smallest bump, I hope this helps,

I leave my lens hood on all the time. It has it's own adapter and the lens cap fits on it. There is plenty of room for the lens toextend. My only penalty is a black LCD.

Thanks for helping, but with "lens rings" i meant those silver rings which makes together lens.. there are two of them - one large and one a bit smaller.. on my camera that small ring is a bit loose, is that normal ?

.....i'll answer the lens movement for you, i have a G6 and have a very loose front lens but don't worry about it, it won't make your imeges go funny or wrong. Even with SLR lenses there is a bit of movement, it's normal.
