That thing is soooo easy to miss the focus at f2.0. DOF is like 6 inches at 50 feet - seems like anyway.
This lens is amazing, u must use it on a full frame body?

No, it can be used on crop bodies as well and it's just as great with them... but it is really special on a FF body because of the DOF difference. ~215mm EFOV at f/2 is nothing to sneeze at, though--it's like a 200mm f/2L for about 1/5 the price, size, and weight!

Omaru, I always love looking at your cosplay pictures. They're a pleasure for the eyes and I always have fun trying to see if there are characters I recognize. You wouldn't happen to have any Vampire Knight cosplay pictures by any chance?
I've had my 135L for a few months now and it's the best purchase I ever made. This lens does everything. I haven't shot the horses with anything else since I got it. I'd always wanted to save for a 70-200 f/4 IS but now I'm not sure I need one.

Some shots taken with a 1.4 TC:
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz10/pommekitty/Vosges%202010/_MG_9964.jpg
This one is almost a 100% crop. The chamois were pretty far away, even with the TC on. It almost looks more like a painting than a picture.
http://i808.photobucket.com/albums/zz10/pommekitty/Vosges%202010/_MG_9976.jpg
I'm satisfied that the TC doesn't significally affect image quality or the AF for stationary subjects. I now need to test the 135L+1.4 TC combo on some horses in action to see how the AF performs. I'll post the results here.

Thank you, niwooe. That's actually my very own horse. He's so used to having me take pictures of him that he knows how to act up in front of the camera. He never goes very far from me and that's probably one of the reasons I don't really feel the need to get something longer than 135mm :o)

Cheers JS, I should really sell the 135L just cant bring myself to, not sure why, it takes the extender really well, but saying that I have the 100L on the camera nearly all the time these days so out of the two I would keep the 100L.
that shot was:
Exposure: 1/1000
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 189 mm

thanks for the info. I sold my 135L and have a 100L en route to me.... I just feel so empty without the 135L. I was however thinking that it might be worth having a 135L as well since it takes a TC so well and offers 189mm F/2.8 lens essentially as well. My issue with longer focal lengths like this (anything past 85mm really)... is that where ever low-light is involved it gets hard to get sharp shots without blur as the shutter speed drops so low even at F/2 on a lens like the 135L. Which is one of the biggest reasons I got the 100L for the IS.
Anyhow, thanks for the info again.... amazing shot that first one you posted... something about the colors in that one.
@ futurama... superb shot.... now thats what I call bokeh love!

Bridge99, the image quality you got on these owl pictures with the TC is amazing. Gorgeous captures. Pictures like this really show the versatility of this lens when it comes to focal length; it's just as amazing with a TC as it is at its native focal length of 135mm.

I had actually thought of returning this lens for the 100L macro. But I just can't get myself to do it. It's quite long on APS-C but then again, I already have the 24-105, so 100L would be in the same range. But Macro can be so fun. Still, I cannot let this go.

I appologize for sounding so rude. You are correct, many posts are with a FF, or have exif removed.
I have been using this lens for a while, but am not a very good photographer - mostly snapshots. I use this lens mainly for its low light capability - shooting kids indoors sports, or concerts & such.
I think you will find many fantastic examples in this archive, but if there is a specific test shot you are looking for, I might be able to dig up something.

After seeing all these amazing samples, I decided to get rid of my 24-105 and to purchase this lens.
Picked it up this morning, already dropped my UV filter on the front element (only from a few mm's height). Very scared that I damaged the lens but there's absolutely no scratch to be seen. Can't stop looking at the front element now... even if I know that nothing's wrong.

lol. maybe - maybe not! I am loving my 100L so far (which is what i sold the 135L for). The IS has proven invaluable so far. Enough to justify losing a stop? I dunno yet, but, Im thinking it was. I honestly get way more keepers and can hold-hold so many shots and capture what the 135L simply could not. But I cannot denny the "magical" bond the 135L has with a FF camera that is evident in the shots you see from them.

I'm planning to get one by the end of this year. Currently I have T2i, so my question is, will this 135mm L lens too tight for my cropped body?
I'm a bit against the best EF-S lens (17-55mm) though I've read many good reviews about it.
I'm more to investing the best L lens I could afford for now rather than EF-S lens..
thanks.

Maybe the brightness on my monitor at work is too high (very likely), but it was obvious enough to me to notice. To me, it's a little distracting. Should be an easy fix with eye dropper, right?
