Our volleyball season ended on Saturday, and I'm actually going to miss it! Never thought I would say that at the beginning of the season but now that I've sort of gotten the hang of it, I wish we still had a few more games. These were all shot with either the 100mm/2.0 or the 85mm/1.8.

#2- Missing the ball on this was one of my biggest regrets

Thanks, guys! The parents of the volleyball players used a CD of my sports images to create a powerpoint presentation to show all the girls on Senior Night.
Croasdail, I really love those two primes for shooting in our high school gym. We just installed new lighting, so it has been a pleasure to shoot in their for a change. It used to be such a cave! I would highly recommend that 85mm/1.8 to anyone shooting in a gym. It's fast and sharp with great background blur. I got mine recently when Dell ran that unbelieveable special and am so glad I did.

Thanks again for your comments.

WOW!
Some of the best gym stuff i've seen yet.

I've been asked to shoot a volleyball tournament this weekend coming...and I'm a bit aprehensive about it...light isn't the best there....SIGH.what shutter speeds were you getting? perhaps you could share some exif info? :crossfingers:

Nice series of shots. I really like #3.

I'm getting a 85mm f/1.8 in a couple of weeks. I can't wait.

nice shots, v-ball can be fast moving..just when you think you got a great kill, it turns into a stuff block. (not that it happened to me ;) ) High ISO...Good work

Thanks. I get a lot of backs and rear ends in my shots, but I'm slowly improving.

I would like to get one of those lenses! What kind of price did Dell have? I'd like to start monitoring their website to see if I can get the same deal.

This is an old thread from last year. I got it for $280 with a couple of stacked coupons that were posted on Fred Miranda's site. It usually retails for $380. You might check B&H and also sign up for Dell deals on their website.

Ooops! I just noticed that this post is 3 days away from a year old.

I'm still interested in finding the best price for a 85mm f/1.8. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

B&H, Adorama, Amazon, or BuyDig are all reputable dealers. If you are interested in used, try www.fredmiranda.com or www.keh.com. Once in a while, the 85mm is listed here in the classifieds, too. If you have questions about a seller, check them out at www.resellerratings.com.
