For those in Canada Vistek has the G12 on sale for $449. Has not been that price for a while. $120 instant rebate from Canon.

A sign perhaps that the G12 will soon be replaced?

That is the best price shown at www.photoprice.ca It says there is an instant rebate of $30.00, and that has been applied in the price you show.
That Canadian site has saved me a lot of money! It's incredible, and often can be used as a tool so that vendors will price match to meet it. It has also saved me a lot of time!
Other advantages? I provided a link to a friend who used it and bought a camera from B&H, saved money on the selling price and profited from no tax or shipping charges when she had it delivered to a sister in the US. Selling price in Canada was $410 + H.S.T. (13% tax), compared to $270 US with no tax or shipping.

ha ha - yeah - I was looking at the G12 for $389 in early June or so on www.photoprice.ca but bought mine used for a nice price...
www.photoprice.ca is worth its weight in gold - been using it for over 2 yrs. They did have various USA stores on there but Canon USA/Canada got greedy and ... 'discouraged' USA vendors from advertising to Canadians...
I just bought the new 40mm from B&H - would have been nice to help out photoprice.ca by buying though his link...

Oops :o. All I saw was June 24. I'm looking at a used one for a few hundred so was searching up some more info on the camera.

I'd say get it used - my guess is that a G13 Digic5 is around the corner - hopefully wider (24mm) and hopefully a slightly longer zoom, but that's a lot to hope for...
if the flipity lcd is not too important to you - the s100 could be your thing...

I *do* like the flippity screen but this would just be a stop-gap until I can buy a 60D for cash. I decided not to go into CC debt for a dslr and now I'm glad I waited as prices are coming down.
I really like the S100 but I had an SD850 that had a lens failure (wouldn't retract) so I don't want anything with that kind of lens on it.

70D is likely coming out in Aug or Sep but its all speculation.
Good deals on 60D out there for sure. Love mine.

Can you get someone in the US to us the SD850 on the Canon Loyalty Program for you?

I don't know anyone who could do that for me. I'm okay with waiting until I have the cash saved up :).

Just a thought. It would be a good way to use your broken Canon camera and save money on the camera you want, assuming they have what you want in stock!:D
Good Luck and if I can help, let me know.
