The final event on the HSCC calendar held round the Silverstone National circuit brought out the usual eclectic mix of cars. I've never been disapointed by the grids or the racing at an HSCC event... Not something I can say of others...

As this is also my last visit to Silverstone for the year, please forgive the larger than normal number of pictures.

#1 We'll start off with a shot from one of the pit garages using the lens of the moment, the much talked about Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L. This was taken at 105mm, f/5.6, ISO 400 and 1/25th. (yes one twenty-fifth of a second).

#2 A detail shot from a jag... again the 24-105mm

#3 Onto the race track... these were all with the Sigma 500mm prime

#4 I've got a thing for Tigers... I like 'em

#5 Nice Mustang in the famous Alan Mann racing colours... being driven by none other than Mr. Alan Mann himself.

#6 The leading Mustang being driven by Nigel Vaulkhard. He's not superstitious and you can see how hard he's trying by the deformation of the front left.

#7 Here's how to make yourself popular with the marshals... run through the gravel trap, bump over the grass and then dump a load of gravel from your nose cone on the racing line.

#8 Roger Bevan in a Brabham BT21A.

#9 Late autumn sunlight can be a pain, but just sometimes it works in your favour

#10 Race Winner Nigel Webb in his Jaguar XK120.

So that's it... no more Silverstone 'till March 2006. It's not my favourite circuit in all the wide world, but it does have it's attractions.

The full collection of the day's entertainment is here http://gallery.ukmotorsportpics.com/c729651.html if you fancy seeing some more in rather larger sizes. Thanks for looking :D

You had a busy weekend!!

Never apologise for lots of pics if you're posting historic racing cars - you can never have too many as far as I am concerned.

#1 is a great detail shot, but the standout shot for me is #7. Excellent timing, exposure and framing - what more could you ask for!

Cheers,

Simon.

Wow Glenn. I haven't ever been into sport forum much but these are great. I bet you could teach me a lot about shooting action shots....

Yeah, Glenn, the old iron is really cool. You photos really popped. Got a chuckle out of the "gravel truck" :-)

Some great shots Glenn. I've seen these guys twice this year and I've always enjoyed the cars and the racing. These are all fantastic. Sharp, colourful and Interesting. Great timing for No. 7

wow... dang... and more wow. I love seeing this stuff because it just pushes me all that much more to get better. You all set a very high bar, and it is going to be some work to get even close. The good news is here in the states we pretty much have racing available year round, bad news is we'll all have to wait a while to see more great shots from the UK. Keep sharing - I am learning a ton from you all.
