I am wondering what is it inside the EF70-200 f/2.8L that you can feel moving about sometimes, feels like something is loose. Is the normal? The lens seems fine in all other respects.

Is it the IS version or not?

Non IS, it does feel simular to the movement of an IS mecahnism, but also occurs when the camera is swithced off, usually when in a vertical, or hanging position. Haven't noticed it whilst actually using the lens normally.

My f/4 version of this lens does this also when I shake it around :) . I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've read threads about other Canon lenses that make odd sounds. Must be the floating system that Canon uses on some of their lenses.

Yes I wondered if it was the 'floating' element thing.

Since I've been using internal focusing, I've always been afraid when I zoom back/ forward, that an element is hitting one another, I know there not ( and hope not ) but, it's always in the back of my head.
