My OpTech Cam QD Strap broke on the plastic connection to the rubber strap. Can you advice me on a securer wrist strap? I'm glad I found the defect before I put it to my wrist.

I had a similar problem, contacted OpTech who supplied a new one, the replacement has a slight design change which hopefully will stop the problem happening again??

Thank you John I will try that to, but do you think that the problem will not happen again?
I bought this wrist strap last year at Lensmate.

I use a Gordy's Strap (http://www.electricedge.com/gordy_s_straps/), the string mount kind.

I also use the Gordy's Strap with string attachment.

I use Canon's ws-20 strap for their handycams.

I modified the neck strap by cutting it in half and hand sewing the cut end back on itself, creating a loop. It has continued to work flawlessly.

I use the neck strap it came with.
Twice around the wrist and away I go. It works great for me.

I just made my own out of an Olympus wrist strap freebie that was lying around in the shop I picked up the G12 from. Cut off the Olympus attachment which was too big for the G12, replaced it with a cut off buckle from the Canon neck strap and stitched the two together. Works great, feels much better than a neck strap with a small camera. It also confuses people as to my genuine allegiences, with a Canon camera and Olympus strap :)

Thank you all. I wrote to Op-tech with my problem and see what will come out of this. I have mounted the original strap from canon to my camera, but at the moment it is more in the way and time consuming to get it out of the way, then a plus. I'm used to my Op-tech strap. Making one will be a last option. Very last. I have ordered a Gordy's strap and hope it will arrive before my holiday's to see how that works.
Thanks again all of you for your advice.

Well done Fred!
Found my Gordy's strap rigid and tight when I first got it. It has loosened up and feels just right now. I really like it.

When I had my G9, I used a Deluxe Loop ProStrap. Very nice leather, and well made. I had a Gordy strap, but liked this better.

They also make one that is less bulky

Anyone ever try a Nintendo wii controller wrist strap? I was looking at the ones on the controllers we have and I like the way the adjustment clip works to set the loop size. Not sure the cord that would attach to the camera has enough beef for the weight of the camera.

What about this one, which is cost nothing and light weight ;)

You know...using more of that same rope in making a turk's head knot wrist cinch would be pretty cool: http://www.troop54.com/knots/TurksHeadKnot/TurksHeadKnot.htm

I'll bet you could sell those

Only thing I might add is one the gadgets shown below to adjust the loop size. Not sure what they're called....

I received the Gordy's strap within a few days after ordering, a new posting record I live in the Netherlands. And it looks very nice. The Optech replacement came a day later but it looks totally different from what I had. Will see what it does. The one that x_tan made looks nice but is the ring not damaging the camera? Some nice straps are shown here, it's something for the future. Thanks!

I tried several more or less expensive straps and have been disappointed every time. So last week I tried to make my own one and so fare it works well for me.
Cost = 0 $

I used a shoe string (as thick as will fit in the G12), an old cord lock and a drop of express glue for the knot

Another poster recommended a BlackRapid SnapR in another thread.
It's a sling strap, a bag, and a wrist strap--you can choose. Hooks up to the tripod socket on your G-camera.
