Was invited to a 50th birthday party last week, to take photos for a friend. Also did some practice shots for my friend's of himself and his fiancee, as they're getting married in a few weeks.
Decided to use the 50 1.8 for a wee while, and have a bit of fun..
It was pretty funny to watch this one.. The boy "Look at my muscles, and the little girls started laughing, and looking at the back of his head.

When annoying kids are bouncing balls, why not get them to pose for you? :p

All shot with no flash, as I hate my on board flash. (580EX only arrived yesterday).

Wazza, I have a very similar photo to your first one, only I wasn't smart enough to focus on my daughter. Or maybe that was smart, it might have started another war;) Cool shot!
The second one is my favorite, it is very creative. The boy's face shows just enough to show some attitude.

Great captures! More proof that the 50 1.8 is a great performer.

That I have not thought of myself.....using people's bodies as OoF/bokeh generators. Alas, if little humans had longer forelimbs, their little faces would make better bokeh on those shots.:D
The B&W and gold colour look splendid on that hand image. A very fine concept. No way in heck could I replicate that with any of my lenses ;)

Thanks people. My photoshop skills are very limited, and don't usually touch my shots, apart from resize, sometimes change the hue to the way I saw them, as sometimes the camera may not have as much red for instance.

Man! Your post makes me want to throw down the Tamron and start playing with my "nifty fifty" again to get back into forceful creativity. Awesome work, you really made some cool shots with the narrow DoF.

Mmmm. Very nice shots :). I think my favorite is the first, as it tells a story.

I love the first one. Keep it up.
The First shot did you get them to pose for you?

No, not a pose. He said I looked strong, and I was like yeah? And then I said, let's see your muscles, that's when he did it, and she had that look for about 1 second, had centre point focus, locked on her, recomposed to frame, (was very tight, uncropped image), and that was the result. :)
The golf one, was a pose.

I like these a lot...refreshing style ! would liked to have seen a bit more of the girls mirth in the first one,, but understand the problems of composing candids !! Nice work...looks like you have a good working knowlege of that lens !

I like em all. I tried a shot like that of my daughters ring but it didn't come out as good as yours. I like. :)
