I was looking at some of the filters and wide lenses on ebay and was wondering if anybody had experiences with them? I was also looking at the tele photo lens but would that be over doing it? Are some filters and lenses better then other and if so what should I be looking at getting?

First thing I did (on advice from this forum and elsewhere) was pick up an adaptor and UV filter with clip-in cap from lensmate.com in Washington state. It's a very solid piece of aluminum (Canon is high grade plastic) that perfectly matches the colour and vibe of the S2. I went with the 58mm because I'm leaning toward the Canon TC and WA lenses when I've saved a few shekels. But they offer a nicer looking (IMO) 52mm adaptor along with a number of 52mm threaded converters that have excellent reputations - the Raynox line seems favoured on their site.
Best of all the lensmate adaptors are about half the price of the Canon, and by all reports they are way superior. I know I'm loving the look and feel of mine. In addition to protecting your zoom and lens, the adaptor adds a bit of heft and makes a great grip for shooting.
cheers!

Thanks, Robert and everyone else for the good info. I just ordered a 52mm converter, UV filter and lens cap from Lensmate.
I'm jumping in on this thread to introduce myself to the forum. I just bought an S2 IS and I'm pretty excited about its possibilities. But I now need to stop admiring it and educate myself about it so I can begin using it. I've been enjoying my Canon S410 Elph for a couple of years and have learned a bit about the digital world. I'm looking for a book that will illuminate the User Guide that came with the camera. Any suggestions? The CheatSheet sounds good, but I'm looking for something with more detail.
Thanks!

Welcome aboard, Starboard. Congrats on getting an S2. I think if you take a look at this thread http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=106229 you'll see some suggestions. As I noted there, I actually learned a lot about my S2 from an online review... even though I had been an occasional G5 user for more than a year. And of course, other threads in the forum will answer questions that have come up about the S2, and more generic questions that may apply. Search on "S2" or another appropriate term.
