ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF.... S50 is this bad?

I am a new user of the powershot S50 and for those who know about the camera or have one I am a little concerned with the lens cover. Is it bad to keep turning this on and off all the time? When i take shots, I will stay in one area take a whole bunch of shots then go for a walk to the next area that captivates me and usually each areas would take about 2-3 minute walk in between. So I always close the lens, then open it again. The lens cover for the S50 and i take it all the other S series probably also feel somewhat flimsy. Should I be concerned? Either way it's a good thing I bought a 4 year warranty on this baby.

I have had an S50 only for a couple of weeks, but I had an S40 for a year before this, and I opened and closed the cover many times over that time and never had a problem (other than scratching the case where it slides along, but this didn't effect operation)
