These look great! Aren't Ren Fairs just fantastic opportunities for photographers? Numbers three and five are my favorites, maybe just a little fill flash on #5 to illuminate the lady's face would help it a little more.

I have a bunch of ren fair photos on my gallery below, check it out if you have some time and post some more shots!

These are really nice shots...Did you shoot them in RAW? I am curious because the colours appear a bit warm...

just some thoughts,

Yep. Always shoot raw. I processed them afterwards and the 'shade' correction setting tends to warm them up. I only re-tweak for ones that I'm planning to print... I can never count on good color fidelity once it goes out over the web anyways... :)

Great shots!
Ren Faires are sorta like shootin' fish in a barrel. A photo op at every turn.
Thanks for sharing!

I've got to get to a Ren Faire soon. I went to one a long time ago and absolutely loved it. I was a big D&D nerd growing up, so it was the coolest place on earth. Now I'm a camera nerd and I think it would be just as great on that front. I like the one with the smoke the best. Most of them seem to have a yellow cast in them that might be better corrected.

Great shots :). I love going to the PA ren faire - particularly the celtic fling. Very good music. I remember seeing the guy in picture #2 a few years ago.

Heh. Yeah, I talked to a few of the cast and they say that he's been there for a long time changing roles over the years.

It looks like a fun time was had by all. :D

When I look at these characters, it reminds me that us photographers are not the only out-of-control fanatics who love our art.

Ohhh so true... I was wondering at some of the costumes the attendees were wearing and decided to investigate costs. I talked to a custom boot maker who makes the form fitting calf length button up boots. He told me that they were three weeks on orders and half depost down. On a standard ankle boot it was 350 and it went up $30 a button there after.

Then the leather goods and armor can run you well into the thousands to outfit yourself well.

While I was listening to the costs I just kept seeing all of the photo gear I would have to forego to get the dress-up and then sanity returned. Save my damn money for more lenses! ;)
