I'm pretty new to digital photography. Just got a G3 earlier this week and was walking around my neighborhood taking pictures.
I snapped this one just as it was getting dark and was hoping to get some critiques from you all:

Your warehouse shot is good. The sky being about 2-3 stops brighter than the building makes it hard to look at the detail of the old building and enjoy it
.
As you progress in digital work you'll find that almost ALL images need some work done on them on the computer. Called Post Processing. Here one would darken the sky section to remove the glare. Not a big job.
For the rest, shooting on digital is not much different from film. The same rules of light and composition still apply. A knowledge of shutter speeds, F stops and ISO is still useful.
The big difference is really the convenience. Not having to wait till you finish the roll and then taking it to a lab for processing.
You are starting out with a very good digital camera.
I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with it.
Hope you post some more shots soon
