All my powers of gracious encouraging are being taxed today. Someone I've sort of mentored (I mentored until they 'outgrew' me lol) shot their first wedding today. (Not .tif, though she also shot her first one today too) The first photo posted on fb...oh man. I knew they weren't ready to shoot a wedding but these days, people only listen if they agree. I was hoping, since their portrait shots are reasonably good, that the wedding shots would be. I can't even speak at the moment. lol

I have much higher expectations from .tif. She's ready. She's awesome. And I mean that in the Neil sense.

Hiya all!!! Love the thread title!:lol:

I'm beat. Spent alot of today trying to wack down my forest of grass with the wead eater. I think I got a good portion of it tamed a bit.

We have a wild momma cat that lives under our deck. She now has babies and I saw them out playing today. Sadly they are to wild for me to get close enough to take any pics. :( Maybe one day soon I can sneak up on them.

And just because I'm missing having water close by I'll post an old photo from Oregon.:)

Which way will it fall?

Due to the laws of gravity and physics, it will fall towards the center mass of the planet. Eventually. Various and sundry other physical laws, such as leverage, Coriolis effect and centripetal laws will play a part in the final course it will take, but, in the end, it will go "down".

I was playing with some hdr programs. I downloaded the trial for hdr efex pro on my new laptop and then I updated my photomatix.

I realize that no hdr program gives good results without doing other adjustments. I also realize that my laptop isn't calibrated, but I did start out with a calibrated photo  from my desktop so I'm hoping this works.

I tried to do the most natural conversions that each program would allow. I had to make my own preset in hdr efex because it didn't really have any natural looks. I'm not sure of my feelings on these. I think that the hdr efex gave a more saturated look and needs to be toned down...it's a lot more $ than the photomatix pro. The photomatix program would require a lot more tweaking in photoshop to look finished. So is the hdr efex worth its $? dunno.

no other edits...straight out of the programs

edit: and WOW, back on my calibrated computer...it's interesting the different wb that each program came up with...

cs3 has a merge to hdr too. It's not bad. More natural looking that current programs tend to be.

I haven't heard anything from my attorney yet. We've been playing phone tag ever since I got back from my trip. I did send him an email with all the info, though. He should have been in touch with the Amador County Sheriff Department and/or the insurance companies by now. I'll try calling him again Monday morning.

The thing I found in CS5 isn't the merge to HDR. It's an HDR simulation thingee in the Image -> Adjustments menu. You only need to feed it a single image...

Because I *hate* dealing with crap like this... And, my attorney is a friend I've known online since about 1983 or 1984. He's one of my oldest friends and he likes doing this, so I just let him handle it for me... He makes all the arrangements, tells me when and where to take the car for repairs, etc.

He also does it for me at no charge, so why not use him?

I think I like the first one much better.

Sounds like a good reason to me.:D

No wonder Robby is all bloated!

I can't even speak at the moment. lol

that's too bad. I hope the couple getting married isn't disappointed.

So I guess I should hang something on the walls... Don't have much of late that is wall worthy... but here it is...

Hmmm, well maybe they do it differently in Amador County. Around here the CHP does all the vehicle accident investigations, although I've heard that if it's a non injury accident, they tell you to come into the office and file a counter report.

You're right, Tim. I do believe I've given myself a migraine. Just as it would be unwise for me to jump out of bed and try to run a mile, I should never try thinking until I've been up at least two hours and had a couple cups of coffee.

The irony is not lost on me; I can't get to sleep at night, and will lay in bed, sometimes well into the wee hours, before I can get to sleep. Mornings are just the opposite. I'm groggy for way too long. I don't remember things being that way when I was younger, but then, I don't remember much these days.

I can ususally fall asleep quick, though often wake for a while during the night. 4-5:00 is my normal wake up time, and I can't think of more than one or two times in the past many years I have until 7:00, even if up late and partying.

oooh good idea. Installs purple shag carpet in this version of the pubI'll reserve judgment until I see it, although I'm not optimistic. Seriously, there was a time when probably 3/4 of all houses we dealt with had either green or gold shag, and just thinking about it creates a visceral reaction within me. It is one of the few carpets that actually looked (and probably was) dirty the day it was laid.

I now believe it was a conspiracy by vacuum manufacturers.

How do you vacuum a shag carpet, anyway?!?

Simple:
1. Set the vacuum to it's maximum height.
2. Vacuum for 2 minutes.
3. Disassemble sweeper
4. Remove fuzz and loose strands.
5. Reassemble sweeper.
6. Repeats steps 2 through 5.
7. Stop for lunch.

Well we hit a milestone at our house... Sean is finally big enough/strong enough to handle our lawn mower on my mountain side home... Meaning he mowed the entire front yard BY HIMSELF!!!!!!

WOOT!!!! WOOT!!!!! Dad finally got my mower fixed... I so thought I was going back to the hell of mowing this mountain... that is until I was at work a couple weeks ago and Dad had both my mower and his mower at the house... he let Sean mow... So Sean begged all week to mow... and then did the whole thing by himself! WOOT!!! :D Oh and Alex cut back the weeds in my front planters! They were monstrous! :lol:Yeah, but wait until he hears that some kids get paid for mowing . . .

Where's the moving truck? Jon is probably on the road back to DC.Yep, and with only unsecured WiFi available.

Yes, yes she is.That.

Due to the laws of gravity and physics, it will fall towards the center mass of the planet. Eventually. Various and sundry other physical laws, such as leverage, Coriolis effect and centripetal laws will play a part in the final course it will take, but, in the end, it will go "down".

I kinda surprised nobody shared this shot from last weekend. I took two images....one with a camera and one with a thermal imager. The results were rather interesting.

Good Morning :)

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, it is indeed our anniversary. We were slow starters compared to many here, and are at year 24 right now.

We have returned from a wonderful but very tiring weekend at the CLA Game Fair. Each year the fair is held at one of the many Country Estates that still abound in the UK. This years was at Blenheim Palace a truly magnificent house and grounds in Oxfordshire.

I decided that the grounds needed exploring so I hijacked a "Mobility Scooter" and set off around the estate .......

However I have to admit that my ancient and borrowed caravan and awning did nothing to improve the neighborhood ....

Sookie did very well, coped with the crowds as if they were not there and performed well in the demonstrations, in fact she looks like is is paying more attention than me, (T took the picture)

We Skyped with Pat last night. He spent Sunday at the Seniors Golf Tournament following Tom Watson around. He said it was a beautiful day in England.

Had he seen you on your Mobility Scooter, he might have had other thoughts.

Looks like you got good weather, Neil. That is quite the 'porch' addition on the trailer you borrowed.

like the "One Red Clip" (http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/), I am sure Neil bartered his way and swapped something for the mobility vehicle, then swapped that for the caravan + awning....

Before you know it, he would have swapped his way to get Blenheim Palace itself :D:D

Let me see if I have this straight. Neil traded a caravan for a mobility scooter, the scooter was then traded for some photos of a dog trial, the dog trial photos were then swapped for a string of polo ponies, the ponies were then traded for the European Polo Team and finally the Polo Team was swapped for Blenheim Palace? Not a bad weekend's work!

This will be my last follow-up to the gardener story. From here on, the less I put in writing, the better.

I was talking to Rogerio this morning, and I decided I really wanted to know which neighbor had hassled him. He pointed out the house to me, and it all made sense. The man is an immigrant himself, albeit from a completely different part of the world. He is well-known to everyone in the neighborhood for being an a-- h---, and once cost us all a lot of money when he sued the association; they had to assess all the residents to pay the cost of the suit. He lost, but we were unable to recover costs because he filed bankruptcy.

Anyway, his life is about to become interesting. I shall say no more.

My few attempts at covering polo matches I found one had to be careful when shooting near the goal as there is no back stop.
