I like to take pictures of miniatures (warhammer) but I can't seem to get close to them with out it distorting. I tried macro but it's not very clear either. I think I am the problem. Can you help? I usually just take a 16x12 shot from like 1 feet away and when I download it to my PC I blow it up from there and crop everything but the picture.

I just purchased a lens adapter for my s30 off of http://www.bugeyedigital.com/ along with the +7 and +10 macro lenses (37mm thread).

Both macros can be used together for a +17 macro. So far I've noticed a big improvement in the clarity of close-up shots, but I haven't had a chance to play with it a lot just yet. I also got the Tiffen 2x Telephoto lens on e-Bay for a really good price. Combined with my S30's 3x optical zoom it's fantastic.

There are also some nifty clamp-pods specifically for macro photography. The cheapest one I have seen is the Quantaray Clamp-Pod flexible camera support for $20. It looks like you can clamp it to a table edge and then position the camera directly over, or next to at an angle, your subject. I may have to get one of those, because it seems like the right lighting and support would really help take full advantage of the macro lenses.

Hi,

wow........its really great to know your marco lens works well with the lens adaptor, cos i'm waiting for the arrival of my lens-adaptor from ckc power.

Cant wait to get some macro lens and get my hands on those flies.......hmm...

Did you combine your marco lens with your telephoto lens?I've always wanted to try this to see if it works,so i will not have to get so close to the insects and scaring them off.

I'm also thinking if i should get my marco lens in 37mm,or a bigger thread size,in case i upgrade my cam to the G series.

What do you think?Any advice? Or it doesn't really matters?

Well,i am aware of the step-up rings, but was wondering if picture quality or focusing will be affected is a smaller thread size lens is used in conjuction with a bigger thread size cam, with the aid of a step-up ring?

Hope to get some advice on this...Thanks man!

Howdy,

I recently purchased the Canon 250D closeup lens for my S30, and it works great. It has 52mm threads so I have it mounted on a 37mm to 52mm step up ring. (I used the adapter from CKCpower.)

It goes a long, long way in improving the quality of macro shots taken with the S30.

DUde this is awesome!!! Do you have this attachment? If it wasn't for the 20$ shipping charge for such a small thing I would have snapped this up right away... Should I get lenses from them too or just buy my own elsewhere? How's the attachment itself? It' looks quite solid, I wish they were in US or In Canada. I saw one at that BUGEYE website but it's like 48$ and not nearly as good looking.
