Well last night I finally felt I had to clean the sensor on the 10D. First I checked to make sure it was the sensor and not my lenses (my 28-135 needed cleaning also, but my 50/1.4 was good to go) and discovered two dust spots that showed up no matter which lens I used.
Got my book out, followed the directions very literally. Used a hand blower (with brush removed) keeping as far from the sensor as I could and still feel I was actually blowing on the sensor.
Checked the camera and viola!, the spots were gone.
While it might not be scary to some of you, I really did not want to mess up my camera (especially since getting a replacement would be a pain). I will bang the darn thing all over the place, treat it like just another tool when on the outside, but I was darn paranoid when I had the mirror up. Kind of silly, but I feel like if I bang up the outside of the camera it is normal wear and tear, but if I mess up the sensor - all my fault.
Any way felt the need to relate this, so put it here.
In other notes: Got my hands on the hand strap finally, still don't know if I have it on right, but it works. Also, I finally know what is meant by eye control - played with a Elan 7e, very cool technology - you would think they could afford to put it on a $1500 camera if it can go on a $400 camera.
[Trivia: still no noticeable dust on D60 as of the last time I used it]
