I am thinking of buying this printer after being so disappionted with results from Digital labs (Jessops, Colab etc). I have an Epson Photo 870 but wouldn't sell prints from it for fear of longevity. I played around with 3rd party inks for a while and the consistency of print was way too poor, it would even change colour through printing.
Anyone cost the 2100 it per 10x8 print
Have any views on longevity (Espon now promote this for pro use and resale)
Compare (quality etc and resale) with 1290
How do UK photographers print (printers or labs)
At the moment I do a few sittings for family, friends and via reputation, but want to make sure the quality is high.
Anyone sell prints from Epson printers (even the 870 Photo)
Also anyone know of whether theres anything new in the pipeline as replacement or new technology.
thanks as always

I sell 870 prints but I either use Epson colorlife paper or heavyweight matte which have 18-25 year life. Film to paper is supposed to be 25 years so I am confident selling these. I did however just buy a 2200 Epson and will use it in the future. I would like the longer life. I think the cost of an 8x10 print on this printer is $1.25 U.S. so it is more expensive than a $.70 print from the 870. Good Luck Brian

Thanks Brian, what is the 2200 is it a replacement for 2100 or different printer altogether.
Must be more people with views on this, you've all spent £2k min on camera and lens and you don't print ......you wrangle of RAW vs JPEG, sharp or USM and don't print ....... come on please lots more views and opinions

Epson 2100 (2200 US) or Canon S9000/i9100
which is best for high quality pictures (portraits) for resale)

I just saw a Ink system for the epson 2200 for $399.00 it is call the Lyson Cave Bulk feed system for the epson 2200. Are these systems any good and are the inks as good as epson inks? Do the inks have the same life span? I saw the ink systme in the new issue of shutter bug on page 68-69 in the Calumet ad.

I've heard that the Canons have problems with their inks fading and not being archival like the Epson 2200. Hands down the winner here is the Epson. I just got one but haven't set it up yet. Good luck

My understanding is that the bulk ink system for the 2100 is not yet fully developed.
If you are keen then I'd suggest that you ask how they have resolved the matter of alternative black ink feeds.
