I managed to finagle a sideline media pass to the homecoming game at Indiana State University today. :) It certainly was different than my usual night time football games! Here are a few of the shots I got. (The first three are a series.)

It is a whole different game - the guys are bigger, faster, the game developes faster, the plays happen faster... I really had to be a lot more alert shooting college ball. Congrats on the shots - looks like you had a nice first outing... and welcome to daylight.

Thanks, Mark! It was a great time. I'll try to get some more posted later.

i think their too saturated, and def open that aperture up

very nice light though to get that

I think the just need to be a little cropped a little more, and yes, the aperature does need a littlw stop faster.

Thanks for the ideas. This is the kind of input I'm looking for. I shot in shutter priority, so I believe these are close to being wide open. Until Santa puts a fast prime and a teleconverter in my stocking, all I have is a 70-200 f/4L and a couple of crappy consumer zooms. Next time I'll try using manual settings.

As for the saturation, I didn't do anything to it other than use the "Outdoor Strong" optimization setting on Raw Shooter. Would you use "Outdoor Natural" instead? I try to avoid much post processing other than raw conversion, cropping, levels, and sharpening. The L glass gives it enough color in the first place.

And, ACDCRocks, I promise to avoid zebras in the future! :)

I like the pics, but I think deffinitely go for a tighter crop, as GMEN says, faces!

I think #4 has some great cropability to it (If it's not already.) The defensive player in the picture is focused on the QB and the ball (Eye on the prize so to speak.) I think tighter crop more focused on him and the QB would be good.

Thanks! I'll try that crop. I've posted more on another thread after following the advice of some of the others on this forum.
