My G1 fell off my dresser and hit the floor!
It was in the on position so the lens was out, now its stuck in that position and the lens wont go back in. When I turn the camera off then back on again it makes the sound as if the lens is retracting but it dose not move, then it beeps 3 times and the word "LENS" appears in the LCD display.
When I shake the camara I don't here anything lose.
Now I don't know what to do!
Can I send the camara in for repair?
Will canon repair it?
HELP PLEASE!

Of course you can (and should) send it back. Of course they can help you.
Good luck.

After my G1 sat unused for a couple of days, last night I was getting ready to pack it up and send it to canon.
I tried to turn it on one last time to see if it would work, and guess what! The lens retracted and the camera started working again. I took pictures and downloaded them to my PC and everything is find now. I guess after the bump it took it was in shock and needed some rest.
But now I'm so happy it's working, I'll just be praying that it dos'nt go dead on me again.

Wonderful news. Congratulations to your G1 on recovering from a near-death experience.

I just bought a G1 1 week ago and the first night I had it I used it a bit and decided to charge up the battery. After charging the battery I put the camera on dresser. In the morning I went to turn the camera on and the camera had no power. I took the battery out and put it back in the camera and it worked again. 2 days ago I spent the day in the Mountains near Calgary Alberta Canada and took about 35 pictures. I was looking forward to seeing the pictures on my TV at home. I set up the camera on my TV stand and the camera was turned on. As soon as I plugged in the AV cord to the camera the power went out on the camera. The camera just completley shut down. I took the battery out and no luck this time. I can't beleive what happened. I just hope this is an isolated thing. I have a Canon Depot in Calgary just down the road from where I work so I took it in and they thought it might be a faulty battery. They tried a new battery and still no luck. Canon kept my camera and said they would put a rush on fixing it. The strange thing is that I have researched digital cameras for almost 2 years before I purchased one. Canon seems to think that this is an isolated case so for now I'll give them the benifet of the doubt. I'll keep you posted on what happens with my camera. Good luck on yours.]Volney Powell wrote:
