Thanks, juscuz. Your shot of the dam gave me an idea. i'm going to Horseshoe Bend in a month and I'm going to put on my fisheye and attach camera to a pole and set the self timer and stick it over the edge as far as I can. I'll keep you updated!

This is without any post processing other than the in camera conversion to JPEG and resizing for the forum. When I figure out how to post process I plan on bringing the foreground up a stop if I can.

Nothing compared to the great shots you guys are posting, but I like it.

I like it. I can't tell for sure because of the mountains and the lake, but for some reason it makes me think the camera wasn't level but that it was tilted clockwise a bit.

If you have time, you might go onto eBay and get an RF-602 set and the remote release cable. Then you could fire shots at will, without the clumsiness of a self timer.

Thats a great shot but find it too over exposed and lacking contrast. I noticed you have image editing on so i took it into PS and had a quick play with it. Hope you dont mind :)
Quite hard to edit on a web image but im sure if you still had the RAW file you could pull loads of detail out of that sky no bother

I think you've overdone it there jjmucker - the sky is now totally unnatural.

I use LR3 for all my adjustments. Because I shoot RAW I always sharpen on import. I know with my 5D2 and 24-70L that sharpen set to 55 looks good to me for most shots. Then I adjust Clarity and Vibrance to taste. Add about 10 on saturation. And bump contast and if needed brightness. I don't do much else as I find these adjustments work for me. In the end I think a lot is what you like in your photos. I hope I have answered your question.

it seems everyone whose photographs stand out to me use lightroom. I'm going to have to look seriously into getting it.

I also shoot raw and do my editing in digital photo professional. then I've got photoshop elements if I want to go beyond that.

The first shots I posted from Sedona were taken with my 5D2 and 24-70L. This shot is on the same trail but taken with my 60D and 18-135 kit lens. Thought you might like to see a 60D shot to compare. Thats the trail in the foreground. If you go to my Flickr account and look at any of the southwest sets the lower numbered images were taken with the 60D and 18-135 kit lens.

i found out recently more about the lighthouse in this picture. there is a really rare occurrence in the image. It has been decades since the lake has flooded this high which made the shot possible. There is a large jetty about 100ft that leads to the lighthouse which was submerged due to the flooding. I could not find another shot like this anywhere online (they all have the jetty) sorry for the long note, but i though it was interesting to know.
