And there's no Canon-only forum rule. I've seen photos from crappy cellphones, 8x10 view cameras, ultra-expensive digital medium-format cameras, and even disposables. Though some members do reserve the right to poke fun at Nikons. :-D

We watched a very exciting Chamonix Downhill race on the TV last Sunday. Did you catch it while you were there?
Unfortunately not. Left on Saturday afternoon and up until then I was focusing on my own skiing :)

Never seen a world cup downhill race live and it would have been fun to try to get a few photos, but it was pretty cold in town over the weekend so it was maybe more enjoyable to follow the race on the TV anyway.

Great execution. I am in LOVE with the exposure and the pure black sky! What did you do in PP? What was your lens, exposure, f/stop....

The lens and settings aren't really that important because the "normally exposed" color photo was the source. It was a late afternoon shot with exposure set for the granite and snow. The pure blue sky was deeply saturated.(dark blue)
Processing was done in lightroom. The achieve the Ansel Adams look, I darkened the sky- like using a red filter with B&W film. The sky had no character- no clouds. All I had was grey sky, so decided to go all the way black. I used the opposite effect with the trees. I wanted to make the trees stand out more, so filtered the green toward yellow. In Lightroom(version 3.5) you just select B&W, then the B&W color adjustemnts are enabled. The look was interesting, so decided to stop there.

Thank you, sir :)
Long exposure was the key in this pic.
Since it was still quite bright outside, and lack of ND Filter, I had to decrease the aperture to f/22 to achieve the 6-sec exposure.
PP was done to enhanced the rocks in PS.

Thanks so much for your comment but no these aren't the Rockies. We call them the big belt mountains and this was taken near East Helena, Montana.
