modest as ROy had said to YOU, modest means beibg humble, yes we can see that you are a hard core shooter but you dont have to BRAG about it, it must show in your shots and not come out of your mouth. we may be not as talented as you are but hey were all on the same joint, were enjoying a common passion.

I am not talented guy, but sorry to say that, when we don't have something that others have then i feel what they are doing or wasting? they will miss a lot, believe it or not, here are many talented friends i saw and all of them with no doubt saying they wish to live in Europe or Canada or USA, i asked them why? they told me that there is everything any photographer need, so that i said that you have everything any photographer need to be a great photographer, you have Snow that you hate, come here and see what the SUN did to our country that many of us want to live somewhere else.

Tareq - you can't say that a country has everything a photographer needs to be a great photographer. A photographer needs talent. Many of the great photographers come from relatively unpicturesque countries - that has nothing to do with it. Have their never been any great photographers from the UAE?
What it seemed as though you were saying was that, if you have the right surroundings, you would 'so talented and advanced photographer'

to be honest, i don't know any arabic Master photographer, and if available mostly he is living there in the West, so if you know someone please link me to him and see what he did.
Sure, how can you do sports if you never have sports around? how can you do landscapes if you can't find that landscapes you want? we don't have Elephants and Giraffe and tigers, so how can i take those wildlife photos then?

The reason I think it may be a composite image (nothing wrong in that) is that the outline of the hill/rocks in the foreground seem too sharply delineated and appear somewhat unnatural.

I truly believe that if you give Jay Maisel a point and shoot camera you will get results that are stunning.
The point isn't the gear, I don't think, rather than the eye and the gut telling you what to shoot and how to shoot it.

The question or say the point is not to get a stunning result only, but the print will play a big rule in our decisions, and don't forget with point and shoot high ISO when needed you can't do more, in sports even the experts can use P&S but they know it is not practical at all, so it is not only to have stunning results by skilled talented photographer, i can get sports shots by my 350D, but comparing using it beside 1D MarkII/N or 1D MarkIII or D3 at ISO 1600 or even ISO 2000-6400, it is really not fair or logical comparison even we can get decent sports shots by 350D or D70.

I agree with this, to a point. My shot turned out OK from the P&S, but if I tried to print that at any decent size, it'd look like crap. If you're never going to have your photos leave your computer, then you're likely Ok with a P&S (well, no OK, but you'll still get good shots now and then).
While it often comes down to composition or having "an eye" for a shot, I'd kill for a 1D or 5D or what not, to be able to have the speed and large format to get that exact shot and print that I wanted. The response on that camera I was using was rediculously slow, it used two AA batteries, and would run out of juice after a full day of use.
But I suppose it's all relative.

There more the better for our photographer meet. We've only had two thus far, but they were both a blast! We try and do them over a weekend for obvious reasons of course....hehe. The first two meets included going to the mountains as part of the weekend and I'm guessing we may do that on one of the days again this time. Once we've all started discussing plans about the meet this year, Elfie and I will make sure ya know about it. :)

I have that filter and got that reddish effect, but i don't like it, but that doesn't mean yours or any IR reddish is not good, your shot is very nice and great composition, but to my personal i prefer different IR color effect [Bluish].

The proper way to do Digital IR is to take a shot of plain green grass with the filter and set that as your costum white balance. And then using that shoot your scene. you will get a much nicer effect. And then You can get a blue skies by replacing some channels and playing around in PS. But that first step is very important. You must be very careful when you set your white balance. and of course shoot raw so you can modify it.

I shoot RAW, and i know how to get blue sky by Photoshop, just i was saying that i've got that reddish effect out of camera with my IR, but if i like that as it is fine, but some like to pp that into different colors, and mostly i prefer the blue one.
