Thank you very much!! It was certainly a boost to my self esteem seeing that I won. There were many different kind of works of art at the show, some of which I would have expected to win over mine. Yet I got the blue ribbon and the prize money. I'm still very excited about it.

Laguna Colorada covers about 60 sq. kilometers (37 sq. miles), with a depth of about 50 cm (20 inches). With a high salt content, the fiery red color of Laguna Colorado is derived from algae and plankton that thrive in the mineral-rich water of sodium, magnesium, borax and gypsum.

here goes nothing
It would be nice If viewers have one object their eyes can rest on...its a fantastic picture, don't get me wrong...but then again this might be a late criticism but I'd throw it anyways....
The limitation is not in the camera but in the photographer..........

thank you tonylong! i've a couple of panorama's, a couple hdr's in my flickr photostream. i've lived here since '91 and i'm still seeing new things - and seeing old things differently, now that i'm into photography. . .

oh, yeah! the fruit was about all picked out.
the hike was about a mile and a half, the vertical wasn't too bad.
Grand wash was, well, washed out due to flashfloods. i've a panorama of Needles Overlook on my flickr (6303 x 1920, didn't want to post it here).
thanks for the comments. if any of you can make it to southern Utah, bring extra memory cards.

Noise increases exponentially when using HDR. You really have to shoot at an ISO value as low as possible, and don't underexpose (on average that is ).
