I'm hoping someone can help me. I want to get my husband a digital camera as a gift. He needs to do time-lapse images, but I do not want an expensive Canon. He will be crawling around in caves with this camera and has already trashed two camcorders. I was looking at the Canon PowerShot S60 but wasn't sure it did time lapse. I got to admit I'm even watching an older S30 on Ebay but again I'm not sure it will do time-lapse.

Could someone please tell me which Canon's will do time-lapse? As you can tell, I have no idea what I'm looking for! I have a Canon camcorder that takes photos and that is about all the knowlege I have! Any help here will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Forget about getting the S30. It has no time lapse shooting feature( Intervallometer). You should consider the S45, S50, S60, S70, S80.

Welcome to the forum. You also consider the Powershot S2 IS. Good luck.

Thanks for your help. I'll start looking over the models that are mentioned.
The Powershot S2 IS looks really nice, but a little over the price range to be used crawling around in caves. What about the SD400? It's a little cheaper but I can't find specs that mention Intervallometer feature. Thanks by the way for letting me know what the time lapse thingy was called.

Looks like SD400 hasn't Intervallometer. To check all Canon models go to this page:

Click on the picture of the item you want to see information about. Scroll down to "Time lapse recording" feature to check if is available.
