View Full Version : Backside, Barn Door

I almost like the full backside of the barn, but the lighting was a bit harsh (and it might need some adjusting to perspective?). I tried to block it with the trunk of the tree but it was still very bright. I do like the close-up of the door, though. Comments?

Great shots Carina! Love the colours in the wood on the second one

Nice job. You nailed the exposure, and that was probably hard on the 1st one. Filters?

Thanks, guys! Nope, no filters. Well....a cheap Tiffen UV Haze filter. I still have to buy filters for the 77mm lenses....dirt poor after buying the 100-400L and Tokina 12-24mm at one time. Had to scrape to get the cheap UV filters LOL I do need them, though, especially and ND and CPol. Would make life MUCH easier!

What are your opinions of the 100-400 so far? Would you recommend it? Were these pics taken with it? I'm currently going through the whole "shall I, shan't I" process...!

Great shots Karina.
Really like the second one, with the colours and texture of the siding.

I really like the second, and find that cropping out the window helps in a way. These days, I'm trying to remember to move in and shoot the smaller details, not just the big picture.

I couldnt decide if I liked the window or not....I was kinda leaning towards it because it added a bit more interest. I will have to take a look. The second image is not a crop of the first pic so the image is plenty large enough to crop it out. I will play with it and see :)

Beautiful shots Karina, well now I know what the back looks like, no need for me to haul my sorry butt down there.    I love the red door and old weathered boards. Nice job.

Thanks for the comments! LOL, Sandy! Its a nice walk down, though the mud smells like farm! I definitely want to go back in the winter and spring....maybe a nice scene for a 4 season series.

I really like the second one, but I agree with Stan. I would crop out the window. The door has plenty of interest to hold the eye. Very nice!

Thanks again for the comments :) Originally my bf said to lose the window, he played with it and decided he too liked it better with. For him, I would not even try it LOL but for you, I have cropped the image to lose the window and show only the door. Its a nice crop, but personally, I like it better with the window but of course am very open to your feedback so please let me know what you think. Sometimes it just comes down to a matter of personal preference, and I know that :) I appreciate your input... :)

actually, now that I look at it here, the 8x12 is kinda nice....a 8x10 crop just didnt do it

As you say, it comes down to personal taste. I sometimes agonize over what to leave in, what to leave out. It's not always easy.
