I have been using RAW format with my G1. I find converting the files a pain, but I do like quality photos. Is the JPEG format good for quality photos? I have been saving in Super Fine. Suggtestions?

Here's a suggestion to keep you on the RAW program:

When you take a photo with the wrong white balance in RAW mode -- auto white balance under tungsten lighting is always popular -- you can change this in the conversion process. Just choose tungsten lighting. You can't do that with JPG.

The settings you make on the camera for RAW -- saturation, contract, white balance, etc. -- sit like an independent layer above the actual RAW file and can be manipulated later.

While you can always make the settings on the camera, it's that much more time before you're ready to shoot, and there's always the possibility you'll forget and either ruin the shot or spend your afternoon in Photoshop trying to repair the color cast.

As for a conversion program, you might try BreezeBrowser if you don't already use it -- www.breezesys.com.
