Is that a "low" price for the UK? How much would you pay in customs fees if you ordered one from the US?

Hmmm
Dropping but not tumbling. I got one within weeks of it hitting the UK streets and negotiated a price well below the stated £1499 although not as low as the web site you posted , fox1. Go to a dealer and ask how much they'll do it for. Sometimes, they will be prepared to compete with internet companies. If you're buying a lens and other bits and peices, your negotiating power/their discounting power increases. I got the grip cheaper than any internet site I could find.
Now, let me offer a word of caution. I sent the first one back (straight swap - walked into shop and ten mins later walked out with a brand new one) because of hot pixels in the screen (only the screen). I took that one back today, 'cos of dust on sensor. Just walked in to the shop. If I had made an internet purchase, I couldn't have done that.
The 10D is fabulous and worth every penny, well philosophically anyway. But it has its vulnerabilities and when/if they show up, some hand-holding is reassuring. Oh, you get a lot of support here but you know what I mean.

I believe digital cameras do not attract duty coming into the UK?

UK shops are still asking silly prices compared to the 'net'...
I do agree that it's great just to walk in and out of a shop.. Is dust on the sensor a fault?

When I got mine, the cheapest internet price was c £1250. I paid a bit more than that on the High Street. Even though the web-price now seems to be nearer £1200, I am still pleased I went to my local dealer.
Don't get me wrong, I do a lot of on-line shopping. Sometimes the difference in price between Clicks & Mortar and High St is criminal. I just think, that with my 10D, the back-up from my dealer is worth the extra money. In fact now, I will always think about buying from them first.

Hah,
Went to FNAC last week and saw the 10D for 2049€. Looked on the same shelf and Oly E20 is selling for 2099€ ... Yes, I am very confused as well. I want whatever the people, who put the price tags, are smoking :D
I think the prices they charge in Europe are f* rediculous. No wonder 56K is broadband here, a "hotspot" is something on the sun and a serious hobbyist has to pay out of his/her arse for everything ...

Why one would want to import a British camera priced at 1200 pounds= $1900.00 to the USA is a mystery, especially as you can find them in the USa for about $1450!!
