I'm going to take my 10D out for a spin at my daughters lacrosse game tomorrow, and I am seeking some suggestions on which lens to take.
The lens line-up to choose from is the 135 F2, 200 2.8, 400 5.6 , or the 70-200 4.0. Of greatest importance is not looking too geeky as to embarass my teenage daughter.

I’m assuming you will be in good light conditions and the shots will not require super high-speed freeze action. I would select the 70-200 F4 L. Excellent lens. Razor-sharp as the 2.8 and much lighter. You will not get the shallow depth of field as the 2.8, but the extra flexibility of the zoom would be my preference. I don’t think you can hide this lens so good luck with the embarrassment factor.

You won't embarass her. My kids loved when I took pics at their games. So did their friends, especially when I would return, often times after half, with the pics printed for them.

Use your 70-200. Most versatile.

I second that , for outdoor sports , the 70-200 f/4 is really a great lens.

Edit : gah , didn't see the necrobumping :(

White lenses are a sign of respect, my man! Not something geeky or afraid to hide! It screams, I'VE GOT MONEY, I'M SERIOUS ABOUT THIS. To answer question, the 70-200mm is always my go-to lens to shoot sports.

Six and a half years later, his teenage (at the time) daughter is probably now married with children!

TC_Fenua - I didn't notice the necropost as I first read the thread either - but the first clue was that the OP was shooting with a 10D and the second poster had a D60 in his username!
