View Full Version : I got a job! (And I may be interested in hiring you!)

Some of you know I've been substitute teaching for the past...eh, three terms/semesters at my local high school. It's been great fun and I've learnt how to handle thirty 12-15y/o's. ;) (No, I'm not having any kids of my own within the near future...LOL)

It's been fun but it wasn't a steady job. Last week I sent an enquiry to a job in Gothenburg. I mainly asked questions what the position entailed as I didn't understand the advert fully. Suddenly I was called for an interview, went on Thursday. This Monday they called and said I had been chosen to go on the next stage. Cool. Another couple of hours later they called to say I got the job.

At first it was a back office/project manager position where I was to help oversee the production of travel guides. Now I'm suddenly in charge of building up a freelance journalistic network in the UK. That's in addition to the project overseeing.

I'm a bit daunted by being thrown into everything, but it'll be fun too! I start next Monday and will meet the owner who'll give me the low-down on everything.

So, anyone who's a UK journalist and is interested in writing texts for travel/tourism, feel free to contact me! And yes, we want photos too. ;)

And sorry, I'm not in UK at the moment. So can't share anything.

Congratulations!

When they expand your territory to the USA, come and see me. For you, I'll learn to write.

Well done, Claire.

Congratulations, Claire ... if you ever need articles from Canada (specifically the Toronto and southern Ontario area) let me know. I have been writing travel articles on a freelance basis for several years. With pix. Recently have also done Barbados, Florida and Costa Rica.

Thanks for the congratulations everyone. And of course the offers for writing and photos. I have no clue how long I'll stay with the company (hopefully they won't kick me after the 3 months trial period!).

The travel guides are so far only for European destinations and we need people who write fluent English, but also has a local knowledge of various destinations. The owners want people who have local knowledge of destinations as they want personal recommendations for hotels, restaurants etc. The regular tourist stuff, but also tips on places that may not be mentioned in the usual travel guides.
