I've just re-read the posting guidelines and I'm sorry about not posting a 56k warning :(
All shots taken with a 350D and 90-300USM. 1/400 shutter speed and iso 100. All the pics were cropped to a max of 800 pixels but not sharpened or filtered at all.
I'm still learning how to use my camera and flicking from the 7 point metering to centre metering and doing lots of shutter speed and iso changes from shot to shot. I reckon only 1 in 10 shots are on the money, so any comments are appreciated
On a lighter note, I was on the seventh floor and this guy wasn't more than 2-3 floors above as he came past. The whole building shook :)

flicking from the 7 point metering to centre metering and doing lots of shutter speed and iso changes from shot to shot. Your shots show a fairly clear, blue sky, so it's not like the exposure is changing as long as the aircraft is in sunlight. The few clouds were making the meter think that the light had changed when it didn't.
The flames would make the meter think it's suddenly brighter out there, but is the exposure for the airframe really that much different? You might have saved yourself all those changes by shooting on "M". A couple of clicks to stop down for the flames would have been faster & easier without all that compensating.
Nice series! I've never seen that before. what's 56k :D :D

Cool shots! For someone who knows nothing about planes, why do they do this? Does it have a purpose or is it just because it's pretty cool?!

Cool pictures. Those planes are so loud.. Louder than the F-15's.. Pretty old planes though. When they drop low at full throttle they shake the ground.. I saw it at the Airshow. I reckon you could maybe put the contrast up a little and take away from of the haze on the pictures which was probably the sun. Yeah gotta love the burning of that much Aviation fuel.. He may as well be burning money out the back of the plane.. hehe

That's a pretty darn cool sequence. You could use Windows Movie Maker, and make a small video from the frames. :D

It's just what the RAAF like to do at airshows etc.
Looked really spectacular the night before in the dark:cool:
Thanks for the tips PhotosGuy

Got to love the F-111, now they're reached classic status. Still awesome to as an audio-visual experience; spectacular photos for sure.
I doubt the USAF would remember them.

Since you asked for help...
For all airshow pictures make sure your sensor is clean; with blue sky or clouds; sensor dust shows up quite nicely :(
-Make sure your aperature is on the smaller side -> The smaller the aperature; the greater Depth Of Field you will get. This is VERY important since you will only be able to focus once; when you shoot in continuous mode the camera will not re-focus between shots.
-Practice panning! You can get some really good shots when you pan with your subject
Have fun!

Have they been completely replaced?
The "FB 111" variant certainly served a nice niche role,. I guess the f-15E can fill it?
Or the F117?
Awesome series of shots!

Thanks for the tips
Are you saying my sensor is showing dust? I can't see any and my camera is only about a month old?
I thought if I went for a smaller aperture, I'd need a slower shutter speed, which may show up as more blurring?
I agree about the panning. I spent the previous weekend at the Aus MotoGP and had all sorts of problems capturing the action with and without a monopod.
Thanks again

That's a pretty darn cool sequence.
Your making me feel old.
I remember many decades ago (ok it was only 2) seeing one of these do just that at an Air Show at Auckland Airport.
Its nice to see that the Ausie Airforce still knows how to entertain.
Large thank you for brining back some nice memorys.

Your making me feel old.
You're feeling old? I remember seeing one at Ardmore - the same year they had what seemed like a dozen Skyhawks there.
Very nice shots though...

Great tips,. but you can alleviate this AF failing by using AI servo and switching on custom function 4 to "1" or "3"
... er,. I guess though that I am just assuming the 350D has this function.. if not? my bad.
