I am looking at purchasing a new compact Canon and am getting confused on the different "Series" of cameras. I don't know if I am looking at a new camera or outdated one. Could somebody please update me.
What are the main differences in Point & Shoot cameras between the "S" , "SD" & "A" series of cameras.
Thanks

Wayne - This is no easy question to answer. The best thing you can do is to go to the Canon website
and take a look at all the camera's they have listed.

Read all the specifications and so you get a good understanding of the various types and models.
Or search on google for a particular model and you will find revieuws of almost any camera out there.

BTW welcome to the forum and good luck.

In terms of features and performance as a general rule you start with S, then A then all the rest :)

The biggest differnce is the S and A series cameras are not "Point and Shoots", they are true compact cameras, offering all the basic features you find an a good SLR, as well as many you might expect to see.
Along with full auto and prefernce modes, comon on almost all Digital cameras, they also offer shutter and apature priority, and full manaul in which you have to set everything manualy, including flash power.
